For Trainers
Wondering how to get started as a trainer? Read on to find various resources that will help you educate others. Trainers who use the Community Education Tracking App to educate others are eligible to earn community service hours.
What Do Our Trainers Do?
Once a trainee has successfully completed the education module, they will have a Profile ID associated with their name and now can become a trainer. This means that you, as the trainer, can educate other people in the health topic. When they list your Profile ID as their trainer, you will receive credit for directly training them as well as indirectly training any other people they go on to train. You can access the "Trainer Profile" tab to find these numbers. Being a Core Volunteer for APHF will provide you many opportunities to train others. You can also train others anytime/anywhere as long as they are able to connect to this website.
Resources
While your Trainer Profile will keep record of the number of people you have directly and indirectly educated, it will not provide the names or information of these individuals. Thus it is a good idea for you as a trainer to have a more detailed log of who you have educated to reference back to. Additionally, since CEM is still in its early stages, it allows you to have a backup of the information as well. Be sure to either download or make a copy of this log when you first begin education other trainers.
Additionally, trainers can sign into their "Trainer Profile" tab to get access to a trainer guide (not pictured). This guide contains instructions on how to guide others through training, tips for trainers, and all the necessary educational info needed to be covered during the training itself.
Tips for Trainers
Here are some tips for the education portion of training:
If you have multiple trainees, ask them to switch off asking questions to ensure everyone is engaging with the material
Be sure not to read off the script and make eye-contact with each trainee from time to time. It is okay to paraphrase the information!
If a trainee goes off script and asks a question you do not know the answer to, it's okay! You are not a licensed health provider and not expected to know the answer to every question.
